She keeps telling me to clean the apartment EVERY day. I am 17 almost 18 and she threatens that if i don't obey her every command she is going to kick me out. I know she can *legally* when I turn 18 but is this fair? or not? I have tons of homework and responsibilities.. college, work, friends, boyfriend, etc. and she expects the apartment to be spotless all the time. the reason its messy is because of my brother and his friends. I hardly ever leave a mess anywhere. I can't move out. Im a commuter and I am halfway through the school year. Next year I will be going to RPI and living on campus, until then i have to deal with this sh*t and hope she doesn't kick me out. What the hell am i supposed to do?

well...have you tried talking to her?

that's the best way to handle things at this point is just by talking and if she continues to threaten you with that just ignore it and do what she says because at this point you have to play it safe or what you fear most will happen. Just for now think up the worst case scenario which is she kicks you out, your stuck struggling to support yourself the rest of the year and you fail a class. Then you figure out how to avoid that scenario by talking to her and listening to what she has to say and then she might give you a chance. she is your mom so she is going to give you a hard time because your probably older and she doesn't want you to make a mistake.

All moms are like that.

My mom is a B**** as well, but I'm only 14 and i like with 3 other guys 2 brothers and an uncle. They are disgusting and a mess and I have to clean every bit just live it up and get your own place when you turn 18 then hop up out the house simple as that

Maybe you could try having a family meeting with your mom and your brother to find a workable solution. Express your concerns but remember to be honest with yourself when you bring up how much you do around the house in addition to your schoolwork and your job. Once the apartment is clean it shouldn't be that difficult to maintain. Is your mother seeing that you are contributing to the household? Sometimes moms just want some support and appreciation. If mom works 8 hours a day, it would probably make her feel great to know she is coming home to a clean house.

lol parents always try to threaten us , they usually joke with you just to make you work harder. My father said he would kick me out if I don't get an A in math but I got a B, sure he yelled at me but he didn't kick me out.

tell her how you feel and the responsibility you take on! tell her that most of it is your brothers mess and you should not be liable for his messes and tell her you understand that you are older but put a stamp in her head telling her you have more responsibility's than she thinks
