May 31, 2006 Domestic Violence Expert Says DV Policies Based on Gender Politics, not Science

Dr. Donald Dutton's new book Rethinking Domestic Violence is out. Dutton is one of North America's leading proponents of sanity in the domestic violence sphere. According to Dutton, his new book "reviews all research on causes, incidence and policy toward domestic violence called Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). It concludes IPV causation is best explained by personality disorder and that gender analysis is not supported by the data. It shows how the male perpetrator-female victim stereotype is not typical. Similarly, it reviews evidence for both mandatory arrest and no drop prosecution and finds that both have failed. It recommends a more flexible professional approach that blends, criminal justice, community psychology and community mental health approaches."

the same reason men can get locked up for domestic violence with just a statement, the same reason women are smiled upon in custody battles, and the same reason that men are destroyed in divorce. we as men don't have alot of laws in our favor on top of that being a stand up male not giving in to pitfalls in life is difficult and a most times thankless endeavor. as much as we a men are in power in society alot of times, especially proven by the facts you site, are powerless when it comes to domestic law.

Are serious? Police do no longer in basic terms manifest at a girl s request and arrest the guy. There ought to be actual evidence that there grow to be violence. frequently while there is an altercation between a guy and lady, they police will ask for one among them to go away for the night to grant them a cooling off era. yet, women human beings do no longer manage the police against the guy. it rather is a guy s worldwide. what's a lot greater probably to take place is that the adult adult males, male officer and guy of the domicile, tend to stick together. It sounds such as you have subject concerns, possibly anger subject concerns. If each and every dating you have finally ends up with the police being referred to as via your important different, possibly you ought to step returned and take a great look at your self and choose what's incorrect.

Perhaps it is not considered "important" enough to do so, since it is probably reported far less when a female abuses a male - due to not only his pride, but also because of cultural stereotypes about male "toughness" and the like that can cause men embarassment if they were to admit it.

I've heard that this author has abused his own wife, so...And yes there are many studies that do study male victimization. Like the national crime victims survey...the problem is that men don't report it to the survey or the police or call any hotlines. Once male victims come forward then people will pay attention. AND just know that 85% of perps are still MEN. MEN abuse men.
