Question:
So when was rule of thumb outlawed?

My wife and I just moved into a new house. I was downstairs unpacking and what not, and she was upstairs unpacking all the nic-nacs that go in our computer room. So i hear this big crash and run upstairs to see what happened. Turns out she had tried to scoot the grand-father clock out of her way and knocked it over. The clock had been in our family for three generations. So, of course, I physically disciplined my wife with a mop stick. The neighbors heard all her wining and called the police, I went to jail for family abuse. I always thought that rule of thumb was still in effect. When was this overruled and why?

Guess what idiot, my husband (Mike) and I are your neighbors. Do you know why you went to jail. My husband, Mike, is a police officer. And if you EVER lay one hand on your wife again, you will GO TO JAIL for TWO YEARS. I suggest that you call the police department right now and ask them how long you will go to jail if you are arrested (TWICE) for assault! Hmmm? I'm serious buddy. You touch her once more and you're history. And I will personally go to court and tesify about all the noises are arguing that I'm hearing over there. Like the other lady said, pack your damn bags and get out!

Because its abusive whether its smaller than your thumb or not. It was outlawed as soon as domestic violence laws went into effect. Anyone who thinks its okay to "physically discipline" his wife with a mop stick SHOULD get arrested. I'm not sure you're for real but, if you are, get some serious help.

i'm not sure this question was posted seriously... if so, what planet have you been living on? women are not possessions, nor are they children... disciplinig your wife? what culture are you from? husbands and wives are equal in a relationship... what makes you think you have the power and authority to act as an abusive father? can't people make mistakes and be forgiven just because we are all human? i hope she moved away while you were in jail... consider counseling and coming out of the cave you've been living in... women are meant to be treasured and cherished... enough of this outdated foolishness!

YES!!!!!!!! You went to jail. Amen! Apparently, you are too retarded to understand the term ASAULT and BATTERY! That makes you even more dangerous. You're a creep. Why don't you just do everyone a favor and pack your bags and leave!

because abuse is abuse. I hope you are truly ashamed of yourself. I don't know if you knew this, but women have rights now. they are their own people and you have NO right to "discipline" them, not even your wife. I feel sorry for the woman who ended up with you and the physical and EMOTIONAL trauma you have put her through. welcome to the 21st century. women are EQUAL now. you don't have the control.
