I have a really big family at my dads we have a house of 8. including my dad and stepmom. A while ago my dad asked of some fun things we can do as a family I was puzzled for that moment and said I would get back to him with results and ideas. It has to be unexpensive and it cant be leaving my state or going far from our city, I have no idea..... HELP

Go give your dad a huge hug and tell him thanks! You are so fortunate to have a dad like that. My suggestions would be park picnics, game day or eve( scrabble, cards, dominoes) movies, volunteer day ( check your local events sometimes there are clean up at the beach days or animal welfare days) , clean the garage day( not fun but feels good when done),an overnight at a super 8 or other inexpensive motel which has a swimming pool where you could get 3 rooms. Hope you have fun. You notice I left out camping since it is too much work and usually ends up that only a few do it!

WOW isnt that cool that your dad is wanting to do fun things with you all! At my house some of the things we did, which have now passed on to all of our homes and our kids are: My mom would read great books to us at dinner time.

Every Sunday after church we would either make homemade ice cream, pull homemade taffy or make home made carmels! What a blast! Once a month, my mom wouldlet one of us pick our favorite meal or pick a meal from a different culture or country! Most of the time it was good eats! Usually once a month, sometimes once a week, we would pull out old family photos albums, and my parents would tell stories of them growing up and of us growing up! Now we have family history and memories to keep alive and pass down to our families! We also did puzzles together and board games too! Now I have to say that way back when I didnt always appreciate the games and puzzles but I do appreciate it now and ALL my kids love the games we play with them. We get family games like mad gab, uno and there is another game with a brain on the cover of the bow they LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I know what you mean! At my dad's house, we are a family of seven...and all different ages. If your family is more outdoors, google your state parks -- either a family picnic or a camping trip. Most parks ar only a dollar or so to use the facilities. Depending on the ages in your family...a trip to the movie theater might be a good idea--- also the zoo or the aquarium...do touristy things and get to know your city.

Hope this helped :-)

Well most zoos and museums have cheap or even FREE days... look on your local zoo/museum websites to see when those are.

Also, maybe you can all pack up a picnic and go for a hike and have lunch at the top, or just go to the park and eat lunch then play for the rest of the day.

Try starting a soccer, baseball, or kickball game.

Look in the paper under Community Events and see what is happening in your town, usually the paper is packed with fun things to do for cheap or FREE.

Last, hit the yard sales, craft fairs, or swap meets. Lots to look at, people to meet, and usually plenty of good food.

I think with the ages of the kids, Apples to Apples would be a lot of fun for all involved. It's a great game that graduates around conversation which is perfect for family night. Have a great time, I'm a bit jealous ;)

Go swimming. Have a bbq at the house. Go biking, skating or for a long walk. Go to a farm or something and feed the animals or a pond and feed the ducks. Go go cart riding or to the nearest park and play frisby. It's a bunch of things you could do.

How about a movie night together each weekend one of you gets to choose a movie and then all sit down and pig out on take away and watch it!

Cook a meal together. Make up a picnic and go somewhere for it and have a game of football, tennis etc together! Your never to old for this!

you didnt say where you lived, but maybe a day at a state park. or maybe a family game of softball or basketball, or something. 8 people should be enough to make 2 teams.
