Thai sister in law asking to see my 2 years olds willy?

I have never got along with my Thai sister in law but she adores my son but something weird happen yesterday at my parents house. My family is close all my brothers and their kids go to my parents on a sunday to see the family but when my sister in law come my son was wondering round in just hes nappy and a t-shirt after getting dirty playing in the garden and my sister in law was saying wheres your willy and i thought nothing of it at first but then she was asking to see hes willy saying let me see your willy and she must of done this around 4 times and before we left she asked again saying let me see your willy before you go now my brother must of seen the horror on my face and said don't worry its a thai thing but is it really? Im a bit freaked out that she wanted to see my sons willy, what would you think if it happened to you?

What a weirdo, i would have been freaked too. Especially asking several times! May be theirs look different, even so what a really strange thing to ask. Make sure she's not left alone with him - god some people are strange!

Well what does she say first of all; if she is saying mean things to her then you have to confront SIL and let her know that her behavior is unacceptable, especially towards a 2 year old. If she continues this way, avoid all contact with her and do not allow your child to interact with her. If other family members complain tell them that you will not have your small child insulted and humiliated by someone who should be and act like an adult.

Outside of the US, people celebrate a child's gender, they're not afraid of it. But it doesn't mean they encourage a child to be sexual - on the contrary.



With a young child, doing the 'let's see your willy' is pretty much the same as 'let's see your feet' - there's nothing to be worried about. It's just a bit of him that isn't usually seen, and there's nothing sexual in her doing that.

Ask you brother to give you more info on the Thia culture....then explain to him that it's not in your culture to ask a little baby to see his willy. Don't get into an argument over it..I'm sure she meant nothing by it but you need to explain to your brother that it does not come across in a good way. Also she needs to learn what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in your culture...so she does not cause any offence.

Tell her - when in Rome you do as the Roman's do (Thai or not) and this is TOTALLY inappropriate behaviour HERE and make yr feelings known. 2 yr old or not. Keep yr distance and what ever fix you are in DON'T ask her to babysit - EVER. Trust yr gut mothering instincts on this one. NO ONE should ever be asking to see any child's willy - EVER it is totally and utterly unacceptable - in any culture these days.



She may see it as a form of peek-a-boo and fun to chase him round saying "let me see yr willy" but it is NOT RIGHT. Your responsible and need to STOP HER in her track NOW
