Slipped Away Lyrics

Artist(Band):Avril Lavigne Review The Song (278) Print the Lyrics

Na na

Na na na na na

I miss you

Miss you so bad

I don't forget you

Oh it's so sad.

I hope you can hear me

I remember it clearly.

[Chorus]

The day you slipped away.....

Was the day i found

It, won't be the same

Oh

Na na

Na na na na na

I didn't get around to kiss you

Goodbye on the hand

I wish that I could see you again

I know that I can't ooooooooooooh

I hope you can hear me

Cause I remember it clearly

[Chorus]

The day you slipped away...

Was the day i found

It, won't be the same

Oh

I've had my wake up

Won't you wake up

I keep asking why.

And I can't take it

It wasn't fake it

It happened you passed by

Now you're gone

Now you're gone

There you go

There you go

Somewhere I can't bring you back

Now you're gone

Now you're gone

There you go

There you go

Somewhere you're not coming back

[Chorus]X2

Na na

Na na na na na

I miss you.

I am so sorry to hear that, how awful for you.

The second I read the title this question I thought of the song "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross. It's not necessarily about a teenage girl but it's really beautiful and it makes everyone I know cry. Including me. Even though it's not sung by a girl, I think you should listen to it, but only if you feel like crying..!

Yes Luther Vandross, its called 'Dance with my father, its a beautiful song,my mums old boss who passed away ,it was played at his funeral. I can understand your wanting to find a song, cos music means alot, and i think people find it helpful in ther grieving, and expressing, some words in some songs could almost read like your own life for some. I'll write you a few lines of it, it goes 'Back when i was a child, before life removed all the innocence,my father would lift me high, and dance with me and my momma and then he would, spin me around me around till i fell asleep, then up the stairs he would carry me and i knew for sure i was loved,if i could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him,i'd play a song that would never end,how i'd love, love, love to dance with my father again.

I am so sorry for your loss.

This song is really sad.

This isn't technically about a daughter missing her father.

But rather, a father talking to his family who misses him.

If you're reading this by Tim McGraw

You're reading this, my mama's sittin there

Look's like I only got a one way ticket over here

I sure wish I could give you one more kiss

War was just a game we played when we were kids

Well I'm layin down my gun and hanging up my boots

I'm up here with God and we're both watching over you

So lay me down

In that open field out on the edge of town

And know my soul

Is where my mama always prayed that it would go

And if you're reading this

I'm already home

If you're reading this halfway around the world

I won't be there to see the birth of our little girl

I hope she looks like you

I hope she fights like me

And stands up for the innocent and the weak

I'm layin down my gun and hanging up my boots

Tell dad I don't regret that I followed in his shoes

So lay me down

In that open field out on the edge of town

And know my soul

Is where my mama always prayed that it would go

And if you're reading this

I'm already home

If you're reading this, there's gonna come a day

When you'll move on and find someone else, and that's ok

Just remember this

I'm in a better place

Where soldiers live in peace and angels sing Amazing Grace

So lay me down

In that open field out on the edge of town

And know my soul

Is where my mama always prayed that it would go

And if you're reading this

If you're reading this...

I'm already home

When I read this, tears came to my eyes when I read it. But I think just listening to fun, up-beat songs, it will help. I found a song on you tube its under Heather Martin- When will you come home. Her dad is at war but still. Its nice. I couldnt realy find anything. But I'm very sorry for you.

Sorry for you loss. One song that I love is Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. It isn't about a daughter and father but it's generally about losing a loved one. He wrote the song while grieving over the loss of his son. It's a very moving song. I hope this helps.

Would you know my name

if I saw you in heaven?

Would it be the same

if I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong and carry on

'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

Would you hold my hand

if I saw you in heaven?

Would you help me stand

if I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way through night and day

'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven...

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees

Time can break your heart, have you begging please...begging please

Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure

And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven...

Would you know my name

if I saw you in heaven?

Would YOU be the same

if I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong and carry on

'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

I don't have one about a daughter losing her father, but you could get Father and Daughter by Paul Simon, which is a really good song. Sad, too. Sorry about your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss, first of all. My dad just passed away this summer and so I know how you feel. I am around your age. At my dads funeral (this is the best it just touched my heart SO MUCH) but it is Hymn 124. Its called Be Still, My Soul. Here are the lyrics:

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.

Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.

Leave to thy God to order and provide;

In every change, He faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend

Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake

To guide the future, as He has the past.

Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;

All now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know

His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,

And all is darkened in the vale of tears,

Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,

Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.

Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay

From His own fullness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on

When we shall be forever with the Lord.

When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,

Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.

Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past

All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise

On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;

Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,

So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.

Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine

Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

Hope it helps,

Again I am so sorry for your loss but when I lost my dad my mom told me 6 key words," It will get better over time.", remeber them and whenever you are sad or miss him sing, or hum, or just think about the song in your head, or think about the sentence my mom told me,

Theres on by good charlotte called emotionless heres the lyrics

Hey dad

Im writing to you

Not to tell you

That I still hate you

Just to ask you

How you feel

And how we fell apart

How this fell apart

Are you happy out there

In this great wide world

Do you think about your sons

Do you miss your little girl

When you lay your head down

How do you sleep at night

Do you even wonder if were alright

But were alright

Were alright

Its been a long hard road without you by my side

Why werent you there the nights that we cried

You broke my mothers heart

You broke your children for life

Its not ok but were alright

I remember the days you were a hero in my eyes

But those are just a long lost memory of mine

I spent so many years

Learning how to survive

Now Im writing just to let you know

Im still alive

The days I spent

So cold, so hungry

Were full of hate

I was so angry

The scars run deep inside

This tattooed body

Theres things Ill take

To my grave

But Im ok

Im ok

Its been a long hard road without you by my side

Why werent you there the nights that we cried

You broke my mothers heart

You broke your children for life

Its not ok but were alright

I remember the days you were a hero in my eyes

But those are just a long lost memory of mine

Now Im writing just to let you know

Im still alive

And Im still alive

Sometimes I forget

Yeah, and this time

Ill admit that I miss you

Said I miss you

Its been a long hard road without you by my side

Why werent you there the nights that we cried

You broke my mothers heart

You broke your children for life

Its not ok but were alright

I remember the days you were a hero in my eyes

But those are just a long lost memory of mine

Now Im writing just to let you know

Im still alive

And sometimes I forget

This time Ill admit

That I miss you

I miss you

i've lost many family members, including my mom. as much as you want to wallow in sad music, it's probably the worst thing you can do. especially this time of year. might i suggest listening to something happier? something that celebrates life rather than expresses the sadness of death?

don't you think your dad would rather you be happy?
