Question:
I am an identical twin but look nothing like my sister at all except eye colour.?

I look like the rest of my sisters but my twin sister is different in every way, hair colour and type, size, skin. My mother and father are now deceased and my other sisters are constantly saying my twin sister must have been swapped at birth. My mother always insisted we were from the same egg. How can I be sure?

You cannot be identical twins because the egg splits after it is fertilized which means it would have to be same sex. You are fraternal twins which is 2 separate eggs.

Identicals should look alike, maybe some variance in size. Blood test may work and a DNA test surely would. Would be good to know if you are idents because it may prove useful for medical purposes in the future.

You are not identical twins - the clue is in the name...?

And how exactly do you think your mother could be sure? Does she have a telepathic affinity with her eggs? No. You are just twins, two different eggs released at once, two sperm. Listen in biology.

First of all Male/Female twins are never identical, obviously, and they don't have to look alike. I could be possible that 2 sperm cells fertilised 1 ovum which means that although you're maternal DNA would be identical, you would have different sets of paternal DNA

Derek...are you male? If so, you can't have an identical twin sister. Identical twins will always be the same sex (unless one or the other has had a sex change).

you should ...... ah, look up the DEFINITION of same. Oh wait, i will save you the worry: same –adjective a million. comparable or alike in each way: the two vehicles are same different than for his or her license plates. 2. being the very comparable; selfsame: this is an identical room we stayed in final year. 3. agreeing precisely: same comments. So, the respond isn't any. no longer till you utilize dyes, contacts, makeup and/ or tans to alter their appearances.

You are not identical if you do not look alike.

Blood test would prove it.
