im 18 a freshman at community college. everything was going good with friends, school, and work and i loved the downtime i had. i made friends at school but i never would hang out there and neither did they. anyways one night i came home drunk and got caught by my parents. now they want me to get involved at school and do service projects i really dont want to. i was supposed to go on a trip with a friend of mine to spend the weekend at college with our friend, but now my parents wont let me go unless i do this. how do i get them off my case?

In many countries it is illegal to drink at your age and being a student. Though 18 you are not matured yet. Learn to honour parents and your future will be blessed. Ephesians 6:1-3 :1 (KJV) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.

do you live at home? because honestly, you're 18 and can do whatever you want, and you can just tell them that. they have no control over you. of course, if you live at home (which i'm guessing since you said "came home drunk and got caught"), they're going to pull the "my house, my rules" line all parents are bred to say. maybe just do the project and get it over with? or compromise with your parents? make a deal or something?

Do what they've asked and then they probably will get off your case. I gather your in America so drinking at your age is illegal anyway.
