Brittany, mum's not trying to be mean, she knows how much of a responsibility taking care of a rabbit, or any pet, requires. In addition, there's an ongoing expense to think about with food, vet care, the hutch/pen, also the cleaning upkeep. I'm sure you're a caring and responsible young lady, but mom has to make a judgement call on whether or not she thinks you're old and responsible enough to take all that on. Hang in there!

Rabbits are a lot of responsibility. I think a good way to start is to show her you are ready (you can do this by keeping your room cleaned, picking up after yourself doing homework and helping out with out being told. If you don't know how you can help, then just ask if you can help with any thing).
Dwarf rabbits are good, I had a lopp earred rabbit (her ears were big enough to fall over and she was bigger over all). She lived in her hutch outside, but I bought a small dog harness and leash and she learned to follow me around on it. Don't forget that the fun of a rabbit will also comes with work. You will have to feed and water everyday, and you will have to clean up the hutch and and poop at least once a week. It is a lot to do, but if you really want a bunny, then you will be able to do it and not complain about it.
I have also heard that if you want your rabbit inside tha they can be taught to use a liter box like a cat, and you can get a dog kennel instead of a hutch. If you ask your mom again and have information about it then maybe she will think about it more seriously, but think about the work end too. If you are willing to take on the responsibilty, then ask. Just remember that a pet is kind of like a baby, they have to be taken care of by you.
Good Luck!!

Dwarf rabbits are not the easiest pets to have. It isn't just about the hutch, you will need hay (alfalfa or timothy depending on the age of the rabbit - over six months of age you buy timothy hay), and food (a good-quality pellets with the right percentage of protein - usually 16% is ok for a pet Dwarf), and the money to have your rabbit spayed or neutered - they do spray when they reach the age of sexual maturity and their behaviour changes also - females in particular have to be spayed to eliminate the risk of them developing uterine cancer in adulthood.
Rabbits do not get sick often, but when they do, it's usually life-threatening. A little thing like hairballs, GI stasis or diarrhea will kill them if there is not immediate intervention. That intervention usually requires a veterinarian who has some experience with exotics. Some illnesses, such as pasteurella, are chronic and uncurable, and it breaks your heart when they die.
Seriously, I'd go for a cat!

How old are you? Rabbits need a lot of care. You need to clean their pens regularly. They need to be brushed and fed a healthy diet. If kept indoor there will be a bad odor! If outdoors they need to be kept protected from weather and animals that may hurt them. Sometime kids want these animals and after a short time it is mom who ends up taking care of the little creature. I know because it has happened in our family. If you really want one, show your mom by helping her around the house. After a while she will see you are responsible and maybe then she will consider your request. Dwarf rabbits are really nice and easy to take care of. I use to have mini lops and they a lot of fun and really cute. Good luck.

Rabbits are not the best pets in the world. I don't blame your mom. Why not ask for a kitten?

First you gotta find out what reasons she has to be denying your request. After you find out just try to convince her/put her worries to rest.
